As already mentioned in an earlier blog lenovo couldn't (or didn't want to) help me with my windows 7 issues. It was a luck that u:book has a service contract with Raiffeisen Informatik Technical Services. There I was able to convince the technician to replace the mainboard with the help of the following error which I'd like to show you in the following shot.

Yesterday the repaired notebook arrived at my office. Ok - something has changed. I was indeed able to run Windows 7 longer than before - what a "luck" (perhaps most windows users would be satisfied now??). But definitely the system isn't stable. I still get bluescreen. (One more fact - after starting the notebook up THE FIRST TIME after the receipt, windows 7 recoverd from a 0x24 BSOD. Whom could now ask why they sent the notebook back - but ... what should I say). After going into hibernate the PC is not able to boot anymore! (What the fu**) I have to remove the batteries and power supply for at least a minute or so and than I am able to boot the PC again. It seams that windows 7 is bringing my laptop in a power safe state which is a problem for the BIOS.

I REALLY wanted to give Windows 7 a try. I haven't used Windows for quite a while now and I am already a bit afraid that I am not able to work with it in an efficient way anymore. So my intention was to "work" (or better play) again with windows to get back a feeling for this OS. Now I am frustrated and get this frog in the throat the moment the funky colorful boot screen appears. It seams that my relation to windows ends here ...

P.S.: Since my start of Gentoo (just right after these events yesterday) the notebook has an uptime of 16:58. It seams to run on Linux ...
